Cyprus negotiators break for Ramadan

Cyprus negotiators Ozdil Nami and Andreas Mavroyiannis are taking a break from their meetings because of the Ramadan holiday and anniversary of the 20th July Peace and Freedom Day.

However, the working groups and technical committees will carry on with their work. According to a report in Greek Cypriot daily ‘Phileleftheros’ the negotiators will be continuing with their work from next week ahead of the leaders meeting on 27th July.

The paper writes that this week, the economy and property working groups would be meeting followed by the EU and Human Rights Issues groups and commented that further rapprochement was aimed for by the end of Autumn.

The report also notes that Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades was convening the National Council today; Anastasiades is expected to brief the members of his meetings with President Akinci and on the work of the negotiators and working groups.
