A delegation headed by the Prime Minister’s Under-secretary, Alpay Avsaroglu is in Ankara to discuss the options for bringing electricity from Turkey to the TRNC.
Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Realist’ reports that according to confidential sources, the delegation gained agreement on importing electricity across from Turkey via cables.
A variety of issues were discussed, such as who would bring the electricity over and how it would be distributed. The decision was that the project would be based on cooperation between the private and public sector.
