The Chairman of the Green Peace Movement (TRNC), Dogan Sahir has said that the unregulated quarrying, which he describes as “slaughtering”, in the Besparmak mountain range must be stopped as soon as possible, reports ‘Kibris Star’.
He said that the destruction of Besparmak had continued for 20 years now and reminded all that the South had brought the issue before the European Parliament. Sahir went on to say that despite the fact that the area is included in the EU ‘Natura 2000′ program and that the TRNC received TL 5-6 million for its protection, the destruction continues.
