During the last week around 30 mosques have had their electricity cut off by KIBTEK.

This is because between them, they have unpaid electricity bills of TL 7.8 million and as yet have made no payment plans.

The head of the Department of Religious Affairs, Talip Atalay, says that his department is not responsible for financial affairs.

Caglayan Cesurer, head of the electricity workers union EL-SEN, replies that shifting the blame is just not good enough. He says that unless payments begin, then the remaining 160 mosques are also at risk of losing their electricity supply.
