Hur-Is union has called for an urgent meeting of the Minimum Wage Commission.
Union leader, Yakup Lafitoglu issued a written press statement saying that continuous price increases were hitting the purchasing power of ordinary citizens.
He says that the recent 14% decrease in the value of the Turkish lira has hit the cost of most items purchased and wants the minimum wage increased to reflect this.
