Despite announcing on Tuesday that the CTP and DP wanted to move forward together as a coalition government, it would appear that the two parties cannot agree on key issues, one of which relates to the apportioning of ministeries and the other is the Cyprus problem.
The CTP favours a federal solution while the DP has said that “there should be no insistence for a new process, if the existing process collapses”.
Representatives from both parties met for a final time at CTP party headquarters yesterday evening.
However, after 15 minutes, the meeting was abandoned and it was disclosed that the two parties could not reconcile their differences.
