A smuggling network in the TRNC is importing luxury cars worth between £100,000-200,000.
According to Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Kibris Postasi’, the UK and German government as well as Interpol, have requested cooperation from the TRNC police in order to smash the luxury car smuggling ring. It is also reported that Turkey’s authorities have appointed a special task force to monitor the case.
Citing information, the paper reports that luxury cars, like Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls Royce and Bentley, have been brought into North Cyprus from Britain through Germany, using false documentation. Then the cars are sold in the TRNC at one third of the price.
