The Women’s Shelter House, which began operating in 2011 with the support of volunteers and Social Violence Prevention Foundation (SORÖV), closed today.
SORÖV, which has been trying to keep the only women’s shelter in the country going for a number of years without government support, has reported on its social media page, that the Women’s Shelter closed its doors today.
It said: “We have been working with the TRNC Interior Ministry, the Police Department and the Social Services Department. We would like to thank all the stakeholders who supported us. Today, the Foundation for the Prevention of Social Risks will continue to work on other risk factors.”
