FETO believed to have plotted Russian envoy’s murder

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told his US counterpart John Kerry that both Turkey and Russia “know” that FETO were behind the the fatal shooting of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov .

In a telephone conversation, requested by the US, Cavusoglu said that the FETO movement, led by self-exiled Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, currently living in the US, had plotted the attack on the Russian envoy in Ankara on Monday.

Kerry expressed sorrow over the assassination of the Russian Ambassador at an art exhibition in the capital by off-duty policeman, 22-year-old Mevlut Mert Altintas, a Turkish Foreign Ministry official said.

Cavusoglu told Kerry that “both Russia and Turkey know that FETO [Fethullahist Terror Organisation] was behind the attack and shared information regarding the assailant,” the official said.
