The Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, has been killed after being shot at an art exhibition in the Turkish capital of Ankara, Russian embassy sources have confirmed to Hurriyet.
Believed to have been an attack by a radical Islamist, the ambassador was shot while making a speech at an art exhibition in Ankara.
According to a Russian news agency, the ambassador has died of his wounds. The gunman was killed.
Three other people were wounded in the incident and taken to hospital.
The attack comes one day before Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu travels to Moscow for talks on Syria with his Russian and Iranian counterparts.
