As the economic situation in South Cyprus continues to worsen, a large number of shops are closing down and many of the rest are selling their goods at huge discounts.
The sales that normally start in August have been brought forward and prices have been slashed.
All the major stores are offering sales in an effort to continue trading. They include Debenhams, Next, Marks &Spencer and Carrefour.
Discounts of 50% have attracted many Turkish Cypriots to the sales. Shop owners say that Turkish Cypriots are now very important customers and that if the sales failed there would be an explosion in shop closures during summer.
