Kamares resident Koulla Anastasiou (48) appeared at Famagusta District Court on Friday and denied being an accessory to the murder of British tourist George Low (22) in Ayia Napa on 14th August.
She will remain in custody to await trial on 21st September.
The forty-eight year old was arrested on 16th August after it was discovered that she was in a relationship with the younger of the two murder suspects Mehmet Akpinar (22) and Sali Ahmet (42), who fatally stabbed Low and seriously wounded his friend Ben Barker (22) in Ayia Napa on 14th August.
Akpinar, she said, had told her that he was involved in the stabbing.
Anastasiou admitted that she had gone to Ayia Napa shortly after the murder to take her boyfriend some clean clothes and had returned the following day to pick up Akpinar’s mobile, which he had hidden.
Shortly after the murder, both murder suspects escaped to the north but were arrested by the Turkish Cypriot authorities for violating a military area.
The two suspects have allegedly admitted to the Turkish Cypriot authorities that they killed the British tourist but had “only intended to injure and scare Low, not kill him.”
