North Cyprus was represented in the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition in Istanbul held between the 28th and 31st of January.
TRNC Minister of Tourism Faiz Sucuoglu attended the opening of the exhibition. According to Bayrak TV, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mahir Unal visited the North Cyprus stand and met with Sucuoglu.
Unal said that Turkey and North Cyprus will walk together and that Turkey will continue to provide all necessary support to the North. The Turkish minister also reminded that he will be paying a visit to North Cyprus with a delegation in February.
Sucuoglu stated that the usual 52 meter square of the North Cyprus stand had been expanded to 208 meter squares this year, in order to promote tourism.
He said that not enough attention had been given to advertisement and promotions in Turkey, in the past. Sucuoglu noted that now they were carrying out an extensive publicity campaign in Turkey this year, hoping to reap the benefits in the coming months.
In addition, Sucuoglu told Bayrak that he is optimistic and hopeful for the tourism sector this year. He also announced that Corendon Airways will be re-launching charter flights to North Cyprus from 1st of May this year. Tickets were already on sale in the Netherlands and Belgium, the minister said.
