The director of the state planning organisation (DPO), Odul Muhtaroglu has said that that the largest component of expenditure items is “personnel expenses”. In a report evaluating TRNC local administration during the period 2006-2014, he noted that these expenses of the municipalities in 2006 were 68.7 million TL, while in 2014 the expenses reached 179.4 million TL.
He explained that the personnel salary item comprises 41.82% of the average proportion of total expenses.
Noting that the number of the total personnel in the municipalities in 2014 was 3,293 persons, Muhtaroglu said that in 2006 the number of the total personnel was 2,372 persons.
