Minister for the Interior and Labour Aziz Gurpinar visited Kyrenia district office to see the launching of the new e-ID card and to speak to officials.
Kyrenia District Governor Mehmet Envergil said that there was no obligation to change ID cards; however worn ones needed to be replaced and people who needed new ID cards could now be given the new e-ID.
Minister Gurpinar noted that with the opening of the ID card offices in local districts would lighten the load at the Nicosia office, making it easier for people to get their ID cards.
Those who apply for the ID cards will receive their cards in 2-3 days. Applicants will be informed by SMS message when their cards are ready.
