The European Commission has invited proposals for promoting innovation and change in schools and the improvement of employability in the Turkish Cypriot community.

The sixth Innovation and Change in Education grant scheme which is worth 1.5 million Euro aims to improve quality and efficiency in education and training and the promotion of equity, social cohesion and active citizenship, and promote lifelong learning and activities enhancing entrepreneurship, the Commission said.

“The call represents a unique opportunity for a number of organisations such as pre-primary, secondary schools and the teachers training academy in the northern-part of Cyprus to submit projects to promote innovation and change in education,” a statement said.

Organisations can propose projects between 30,000 and 100,000 Euros for a two to three year implementation period.

For the first time, the invitation will also be open to life-long learning organisations such as chambers, associations and unions to promote entrepreneurship and skills development. Those organisations can also propose projects between 50,000 and 200,000 Euros for a two to three year implementation period.

The deadline for submission of proposals is June 24, 4pm Cyprus time.
