There have been strong reactions by various environmental organisations in North Cyprus against the decision to cut down 20,000 trees to make way for the new terminal building and runway at Ercan airport.
Chairman of the Biological Association Dilge Ozerdem and the chairman of the Environmental Engineering Chamber Nilden Bektas stated that they are closely monitoring events.
