President Dervis Eroglu met Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc at the presidential palace on Thursday.
Also present was Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas, the Turkish Ambassador in North Cyprus, Halik Ibrahim Akca and President Eroglu’s Undersecretary, Hasan Gungor.
Speaking during the meeting, Arinc referred to the strong ties between Turkey and North Cyprus and assured the Turkish Cypriot President that Turkey will always be by the side of the Turkish Cypriots and support them. “We care about North Cyprus. We fully support the economic, social and political strengthening of the TRNC, and we will continue to do so”, Arinc said.
Deputy Prime Minister Arinc arrived in Cyprus on Thursday for a foundation laying ceremony for a new terminal at Ercan Airport. In addition, a new runway and roads leading to the airport are to be constructed.
