Virtually the first decision of the TRNC’s interim cabinet was to sack the current honorary cultural attaché.
The Culture and Tourism Attache was Necati Sasmaz a popular television series actor who plays the lead role in the ‘Valley of the Wolves’, a Turkish series.
He was promoted to his post by ex-Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk and his promotion attracted public criticism when it was made in March 2012.
Soon after gaining his new title, Mr Sasmaz was made a citizen of the TRNC and again caused an outcry because this process was completed within one day.
