The Turkish Parliament has voted against sending four former ministers to court.

The vote which was closer than anticipated, saw the end of investigations into corruption charges levelled at the four former AK government ministers Egemen Bağış, Muammer Güler, Erdoğan Bayraktar and Zafer Çağlayan, shown left to right.

The ballots, held individually for the four ex-ministers, were held in secret. The closeness of the results suggested that some members of the ruling AK party voted in favour of a court hearing.

CHP, the main opposition party made it clear that it still believed the Turkish Supreme Court should hear the evidence against the former ministers.

It was suggested by some that MPs faced pressure over their voting decision from President Erdogan, who could also have faced charges of corruption if the vote had been in favour.
